Andiamo is an Italian restaurant located in
Giffnock and Milngavie just outside the Glasgow area. Again as I have previously mentioned Italian
is most definitely my favourite cuisine. At Andiamo they have a dedicated
gluten free menu available which ranges from starters including, bruschetta, olives
and a range of Italian meats served with buffalo mozzarella. Main courses
including, gluten free pasta either spaghetti or penne, risotto (often a
popular gluten free option as risotto is made from rice), meats and fish along
with sides of garlic bread, homemade chips and mash potato.
Lunchtime...
Andiamo is not only great for an evening
meal however they offer a range of gluten free sandwiches which are perfect for
lunchtime. The sandwiches range from steak, BLT, club and tuna mayo, I chose
the club sandwich this includes pancetta, chicken, iceberg lettuce and tomato
served on gluten free toast absolutely delicious with a side of chips (or soup)
and a side salad. You wouldn’t know it
was gluten free it was that good!!
Evening meal...
For my starter I selected gluten free garlic
bread topped with caramelised onion, mozzarella and tomato. The mozzarella was
melted over the top of the caramelised onion and the tomatoes were placed on
top all full of flavour.
Lastly for my main I decided on the
cartoccio cardinale, this was gluten free penne pasta served with ham,
mushroom, peppers, onions, tomato and cream topped with mozzarella. This was
baked in foil in order to add extra flavour to the dish. The pasta came served in the foil, which also
kept the dish hotter for longer and served with a sprinkle of parmesan. The
dish was very enjoyable, exactly what I expected from the description.
Would I recommend?
Andiamo is the perfect restaurant for those
following a gluten free diet, as the choice available is endless and also great
quality. Overall I was very impressed with both my lunchtime and evening
options
